I've been tagged! Five things I obsesess about
So my friend Kate tagged me and now you all get to read about my top five obsessions. Don't you feel special? ;)
1) Grammar - Is it really so hard to get it right? Okay, sometimes it can be a little challenging, but if English is your first language you have no f*ing excuse not to know when to use "me" instead of "I" (my biggest pet peeve, atm) or what a dangling participal is. (See? There's one right there!) I don't expect everyone to know what a gerund or synecdoche is, just learn to speak and write properly, damn it! Get yourself a copy of Strunk & White and stop polluting the world with misplaced apostrophes.
2) My kitty - She is beautiful and I love her and how can I not occasionally obsess over such a sweet ball of fluffy love? (Shut up. I hear your ironic laughter. :-P)

3) Good coffee - Life is nothing with out good coffee. When I say good I don't just mean yummy, I mean fair trade, organic, shade grown beans. Because if you don't support the growers who provide you with this precious commodity, they might take it away, and then where would we be? Probably in prison for throttling some idiot who cut us off in traffic or ran a red light or used "I" when it should've been "me". Bastards.
4) Star Trek - I'm not as obsessed as a lot of people, but I am a bit obsessed and there's no point denying it. Why else would I write reams of fanfic about Tucker/Reed? Why else would I own all four seasons of ENT on DVD? (At least I bought them all half-price.) I am a geek, and I'm proud of it.
5) Thrifting - I love to thrift even when there's nothing particular that I'm looking for. You never know when you'll find a treasure. For example the gorgeous gold dress I got recently and gave to Minsq. I knew it wouldn't fit me and I knew it wasn't my colour, but I also knew that there was someone in my world for whom that dress was destined. And on top of that, it was only $7. How can you beat that? A gorgeous dress that I got the pleasure not only of thrifting but of giving to a friend who loved it--for under ten bucks. So awsome!
Now, just because I know she's laughing at my kitty comment, I'm tagging
jaunthie. Just for fun I shall also tag
sunkrux. I'm sure she'll be dying for something to do when she gets back online. ;-) And since comedy is always best in multiples of three, I tag
vflick.

Re: Nice List!
Misspelled signs drive me nuts, but it's the apostrophes that just kill me. The worst is when it's on tv shows. Disney Channel is guilty of missing out possessive apostrophes on things like "Boys' Locker Room" or "New Year's Eve". No wonder people's grammar is going to shit when children are learning bad lessons from Disney of all places. ::shakes accusing finger at Disney:: You should be ashamed!

Oh, and by the way, it's "participle" not "participal"...damn, I think I just figured out my first obsessive. ;-)
