I don't mind epilogues if they're used to tie up loose ends that aren't necessarily part of the plot but part of "I want to know what happened to my favorite characters down the line!" kind of thing, either. Not if the epilogue is done well, anyway. Sometimes inquiring minds just want to know - even if it isn't smut-related. ;-)

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] jaunthie...only if it ties up loose ends that just don't fit in with the rest of the story. they're lame if they just continue the story like a final chapter.

I can take 'em or leave 'em. If I've really enjoyed the story but there are some loose ends, that like jaunthie said.

Otherwise...why bother? Why torture the reader further? ;) LOL

I wasn't referring to any epilogues you've written silly. Just some in general.

I had to razz ya back. ;-p

Since I haven't read much that really needed an epilogue...

I'm sorry you had to suffer (see it was torture right?) through that.

epilogues are that extra 'buh-bye' when you see someone again whom you've said goodbye to already - awkward,self-conscious, and ultimately meaningless. unless of course they're done well, which is "not so far". do great (or even good) film and theater use them?
