Oh, this is fantastic! How brilliant to pair John and Marguerite with Mal and Inara. I especially liked the insightful parallel about each pairing including a partner who can't exactly share all parts of himself/herself with the other. The similarities between John, Mal, and Hercules -- honor, friends, and loss -- are wonderful, too.

This gives such a sense of communion, of comrade souls, and I just adore it. You get the distinct feeling that they're all getting something they truly need from this exchange/these new friendships.
