Homage to Jenboo
Well, sort of.
jenboo is well known here for her many bakings of the fabulous Guinness Chocolate Cake. My b-day fast approacheth, so I've followed this recipe to the letter (something I rarely do, but felt it wise in this case) and made said cake. Instead of layering the three 9" rounds, I've decided to split them and fill and frost each a wee bit differently. I did the homemade raspberry jam-filled one with loganberry-chocolate ganache yesterday. Tonight it's chocolate and almond first, and then chocolate and kahluah since I have some amazingly smooth kaluah that I made and then forgot about under the stairs for five-plus years. I'm having too much fun. I haven't baked anything but scones in ages, and this is a nifty change.

The only drawback of that recipe, as you have discovered, is that it makes a TON of cake. And of course, it's only a drawback if you don't have enough people to eat all the cake at the function you make it for. Because then you're faced lots of fabulous cake that you hate to throw away. *g*
I'm glad they were successful!
