What is it with this week and bacteria!?

Two friends are in hospital right now--one with pneumonia and one with an evil, antibioitic-resistant bacterial infection.  Not good, not good.  To those of you who take antibiotics when they don't need them or who take them but don't take the full course of them as precribed: fuck you.  And fuck the makers of antibacterial soap.  You are why bacteria are growing stronger every day.

And now that I've spewed the necessary venom, I'll get back to being worried about my friends.

I'm with you about antibacterial soap and gel (although that comes in handy when you're at a renfaire and there's no soap after going potty).

How did we manage to survive childhood with out that stuff?

I'm all for the hand cleaner stuff. I've never seen it with "anti-bacterial" on the label. And it needs to stay that way. ::gives cleanser companies a stern and challenging glare::

Last I heard it was MRSA, indeed, and caught out in the world rather than in a hospital. Nasty, nasty!
