Notes on a Thursday morning

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [profile] devinam and [profile] lemurkitten! I'll see you ladies at the spa. :D

Now for my report on NBC Wednesday night premiers:

Bionic Woman - Underwhelming.  Thoroughly meh.  I enjoyed the first and last of the scenes that included Katee Sackoff, but otherwise this show left me completely "ungrippèd". I might give it one more go next week, but then I will undoubtedly go back to watching MythBusters on Wednesdays at 9:00.

Life - I had no intention of watching this, but they cleverly segued directly from the BW credits into this show.  You know what?  Loved it!  It was funny, smart, interesting, well written, well acted.  In short, it was really good.  Because of this, it will never last.  I will watch it until TPTB take it away, as they undoubtedly will because, as we all know, TV network execs are idiots and asswipes who have no clue what people really want to watch.  But until that day, I'm in!

Aw, I liked BW. I didn't have any expactations for it, so maybe that's why I enjoyed it. Yes, some of the dialog was bad, so bad it was actually pretty funny. Considering the only other thing I've seen Michelle Ryan in "Jekyll" the BBC show (which rocks btw, as did Michelle) I was impressed that her American accent didn't suck (much). I thought she was good.

Katee was ok as well. Not a big BSG fan so not knowing her range as an actress doesn't bother me. Although, some of the hair choices for her were just bad...but I suppose that's what the director wanted to make the character appear to be "bad". ::rolleyes:: Because we all know that most Americans need to have it blatantly obvious who the good guy and who the bad guy is. yeah, whatever.

I'll watch again since the last lines I remember Jaime saying were along the lines of "Ok, fine I'll play your game, by my rules. If you don't like it, tough. Send who ever you want after me and I'll bury one guy after another." Kid's got balls considering she hasn't a clue what the game is. LOL

As for Life, I had been looking forward to it since Claudia Black had actually filmed the pilot, but it appears that they decided to completly cut her out and recast. Bummer. What's Hollyweird's deal with preggers actresses? Anyway...other than missing the chance to see Claudia as a non-scifi ass kickin' chick, I did enjoy Life.

Now I just have to figure out how to tell ABC to NOT keep Private Practice on opposite of Bionic Woman. LOL

I admit, the writing isn't all that great and as for Michelle being "ho hum" (paraphrasing you here) I'm blaming that on the writing and the directing as she rocked in Jekyll.

As for Claudia and Life, sadly it was due to her being preggers and I think that cut into their time line. I was underwhelmed (maybe I'm just biased towards Claudia) by the chick they got to replace take the part she had to leave behind. Other than that and that "chief" chick I really did enjoy Life.

At least you're not giving up on BW yet. I'm hoping that as it grows the writing will get better as will the directing (geez folks, let Michelle frellin' ACT!). I've yet to get into a show that the first season wasn't a bit shaky. ;)
