Tech question

So how dangerous is it that my computer's plug lost its grounding prong?  I have the prong, it's just not in the plug anymore.  Frankly, I'm more annoyed than concerned.  But I'm also curious.  I mean, it'd suck it there was a power surge and I lost anything off my hard drive.  Yeah.  That'd suck rocks.

Grounding is good. I think we have a few extra power cables lying around if you need one.

To Ground or not To Ground

I'm pretty sure you want that prong attached. ;)
but I'm checking with my computer minded husband, I'll let you know what he says...

Um, dare I ask, *how* did you lose the prong?

Here's what Mike said:
"it's less important if she's on a surge protector... that has it's own ground to save the computer.

Also, most compters have a separate power cord, can be detatched from the computer. If so, we have a few extras, she can have ours."

So I guess we have extras, in which case you can have one of ours, if you want.
