Lovely poem - prophetic and also appropriate to so many.

Point of interest only, John may well not have taken 6th form English.

Yeah, I thought about that, but in the end decided that further research into English grades/forms was not how I wanted to spend my morning. ;)

It cerlainly doesn't detract from the poem and is more indicative of the humanities/science split in English schools.

I've run into this educational conundrum before when trying to write fic. That is US v Brit systems. This sort of poetry assignment would be likeliest in an AP (Advanced Placement) English class, which happens in 12th grade. (The last one before you go to college, or not.) A levels and O levels (which I understand aren't even the system any more?) and the freedom to leave school at 16 is tough to wrap my brain around.

I'm glad my ignorance doesn't take away from John's poem, itself. :-)
