Driving and Dancing
Apr. 25th, 2005 03:40 pmThat pretty much sums up my weekend, and what a fun weekend it was! Despite the rain that slowed traffic to the speedlimit and below, Aviva, minsq, and I made it to Hillsboro at precisely noon--thirty minutes later than I'd hoped, but right on time to meet with the other Monkeys. Unfortunately, Kasima was delayed by the weather, too, but by the time we'd grabbed a little nibble to sustain us, she and our PM (that's Prop Monkey) had arrived. We danced well, although I suspect each of us can identify something that didn't quite go as intended. (I know I can, but I doubt anyone else noticed.) We didn't get the roaring happy response of last year, but that was to be expected. Last year we were dead funny. This year's routine requires a bit of thought on the part of the audience. I don't think they expected that. As minsq so eloquently put it, last year was like our "debut album" and this year was our second album, which is always completely different from one's debut. And however good it is, the audience still wants more of what you did the first time. I'll post again once we have pics up on the site.
We watched some great dancers on Saturday, too. I don't have a program so I can't give credit to the individuals who impressed me most--with one exception: Jim Boz. He's fantastic and fabulous! Check out his website. We Monkeys must get to San Diego one of these months and see him on his own turf. :D
