I didn't quite break the curse...
Jun. 23rd, 2005 05:21 pm...but I did manage to temporarily foil it last night. You see, the Mariners lose when I'm at the game. I admit that two visits this season are hardly unequivocal evidence, but you've gotta wonder, eh? Anyway, we were at the game last night, and whenever the Mariners needed a little boost, I left. Not the ballpark, but my seat. I'd run to the loo, or get something to eat, and lo! we would score or get out of a tight spot. It even worked for the win. In the top of the twelfth inning, I said to Nordic Boy, "If Oakland gets a run, let's just go wait it out in the bus." He agreed. Well, Oakland got the go-ahead run (Thanks, "Everyday Eddie". ::grr:: ), so we wandered off. I stopped at the loo one last time--just about when Pat Borders hit the single that began the rally. We strolled out of the park and climbed onto the bus. Not ten minutes later, our boys came through at got the win.
So, like I said, I didn't break the curse, but I foiled it for a night. I think it got mad though, because when I turned on the radio to listen to today's game we were down 1-0. When the game ended, it was 5-0. Damn curse.
