I went into rehearsal tonight feeling quite dubious about the plan, but OMG how fun was that? Here's what the plan was, and tell me if at first it doesn't strike you as dubious.
Everyone was to choose one single line (either for the whole show or one line per character--I opted for the latter) and whenever it was your line, whatever the line might actually be, that one line was the one you spoke. It was an exercise designed to determine how well we all know the show. Seeing as our first full run-through was yesterday, you can see why I was doubtful. Well, in truth nothing got truly wonky until IV, vii. Not too damned bad, eh? It was like Surrealist Shakespeare. And, yes, I did dream lines from the show. Not mine, naturally…
"Cheerly to sea; the signs of war advance,
No king of England, if not king of France."
"Small time; but in that small time most greatly lived
This Star of England."
That was just too much fun. :D
