When being a packrat pays off
Jul. 9th, 2005 12:52 pmI was in Gottschalk's the other day, just randomly looking for bargains. They're easy to find there because the Gottschalk's here is the clearance store; everything there is on sale to some degree. I went upstairs to the acutal clearance section and what should catch my eye on a rack but a WonderBra in my size. '??' went my mind. I searched high and low for push-up bras the other week, and in my websearching I went to the WonderBra site. According to it, they don't make my size in any style. And yet there was one of the convertible ones right there. Okay, so it was missing its straps and cookies, but what the hell? It was cheap and it fit.
Here's where the packrat part comes in. I have several cozzies built on WonderBras (back when I was a different size that they do occasionally make), and as a result I have random straps and backs that I've cut off of them. Not to mention extra cookies. I dug out my little tin box o' bra bits, found two straps that just needed hooks attached--which I got at the fabric store this a.m. Next I got the cookies from my red sequined bra. A few minutes in front of the sewing machine et voila! A new push-up bra that really works. And in plenty of time for today's costume fittings. :)
