I think we all know by now that I'm not very consistent with this blogging thing. I don't know why I thought I would be any good at it, frankly. I've always sucked at keeping journals. That's a known fact.
So here's my abbreviated journal update.
December
Saw Mama Mia! with devinam , Fitanna, and Sanafi. Went out to dinner at Dragonfish before the show. (
jenboo joined for dinner, but not the show.) All very, very fun! The show was almost enough to make me want to do a musical again...in about ten years when I'm the right age for this one. Got to wear the asymmetrical glittery blue dress I thrifted. Woo-hoo!
Traditional Decemeber Evening Out Downtown with Nordic Boy: Went to the Dahlia Lounge - a Tom Douglas restaurant. He beat Iron Chef Morimoto, you know, and I know why. Wow! Got to wear my black wool skirt and pretty gray angora sweater that've been sitting in the cedar chest for ages on end. Woo-hoo!
Cocktail party at devinam 's very fun, although I was fighting off the bug that hit and took out both her and Sanafi. Got to wear the fab red dress and platform sandals I got at the Glitter Sale. Woo-hoo!
Good holidays. Pretty laid-back, mellow, prosperous. Held niece for the first time on Christmas Eve. Ugh. Nothing against the kid, but why do people breed? Christmas day quiet, fun. We were joined by sunkrux , which is always a pleasure. Evening, my uncle and his wife joined us--escaping the insanity of the grandkids. Always great to see them, too!
New Year's Eve
Successful party. Smaller than hoped, but a wonderful crowd of folks. Frankly, half-a-dozen more people would have been good, but one more than that would probably have been a bit much. Huge amounts of food and drink consumed, yet huge amounts also left over. We don't need to buy beer for at least a couple of months. And we've enough wine to last through June. Got to wear fab spaghetti-strap dress I thrifted earlier in the year. Woo-hoo!
January vacation
Five days in the snowy Methow Valley. Everyone from last year was there again, and we added two more to the chilly insanity: jaunthie and fisherbear. It was a lot of people, but by no means was it too many. Everyone had fun! :)
I snowshoed three of the days, including...::drumroll::...Snowshoe Badminton! This was the most fun you can have in snow, I'm certain of it. Nordic Boy, Snow Ninja, Gear Diva and I had a fantastic, silly time. We got surprisingly good at moving backwards on snowshoes by the end. Now we all want racing snowshoes so that we'll be even better at it next year.
I finally got my snowshoeing name, too! Three years it took, but the others in my cabin dubbed me Canada Girl. I protested at first, because it could equally well apply to jenboo , but Snow Ninja convinced me that it was okay. I suggested to
jenboo that we could wrestle for it, but we agreed everyone else might enjoy that a little too much. ;) I'm very pleased to finally have a snowshoeing name. It's not something you can just pick out of the air, you know? Like a screen handle, it must be right in that inexplicable way. Unlike a screen handle, though, it's something others should give you and others should agree on. In a weird way, it almost feels like a right of passage. Anyway, I'm proud to have one.
Now I'm settled in with the kitty, working on fanfiction, watching Food Network, working occasionally, and memorizing my lines. Business as usual. ;)
