So my bro and I went to see Shooglenifty the other week, right? And on the way out the door after the show, I saw a poster for Rose Laughlin who was going to be performing on 7 Oct at the Lake Forest Park Third Place Books. Well, I immedeate put the info in my rememberall and went to her show on Saturday with
sunkrux and
carrot_cake67. (Thanks for joining me, ladies! It's always great to see you both! :D ) You see, I have a long, serendipitous history with Rose. We went to middle school together. Then we didn't see each other again until I happened to be temping in a specific department of WaMu. She was interviewing in a different department that just happened to be on the same floor of the same building where I was working. We passed in the hallway, and we recognized each other. We lost touch when she went to Chicago, and then I randomly spotted the poster for her show. sunkrux and I got there, and before I could even spot carrot_cake67 in the crowd, Rose spotted me. See? Serendipity. :)
First off, Rose was awsome! She was performing with Kat Eggleston (also awsome, btw), who NordicBoy recognized as one of the Ferryboat Musicians from years ago. I knew she was vaguely familiar; now I know why. Anyway, the point is that if Rose comes to your town and you have any affinity for live acoustic music, go see her! Just go! It'll be more than worth your time, and you'll probably come home with her CD. :D
Yay Rose!
