ENT is Dead
Feb. 2nd, 2005 02:22 pmENTERPRISE has been cancelled. I haven't read the full announcement yet because startrek.com appears to be swamped at present, but I have heard that this is the official word. It's unfortunate that this happened on Manny Coto and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens's watch, but I can't say I'm surprised. The show was all but stillborn to begin with. Only the fans' actions kept it alive this long since Les Moonves and his ilk were determined to kill it from the beginning. I ask you, why give a show the go-ahead when you are just going to do everything in your power to keep it from succeeding? That man is a selfish, ignorant fuckwad.
On the postitive side, once this season is done, they can never again do anything I don't want them to do. As I said on the HoT T*M board, the Killer Bs should have handed the concept for ENT off to others the moment they conceived it. Then, perhaps, ENTERPRISE would have had a fair shot at life. I will add here what I didn't add there because I would have been flamed by the fucking T/T'P shippers: If Bermaga had handed the show over from the beginning, we wouldn't have been assualted with the juvenile cock-teashing horror of S3 Trip/T'Pol, the degredation of T'Pol into the 22nd century equivalent of a crack whore, Archer's heinous and painful gazelle speech, and time-travelling alien Nazis. And maybe--just maybe--there'd have finally been a queer character in the Star Trek tv universe.
Okay, the last bit is a long shot, but we will always have the consolation of pondering what might have been and then writing our own versions of how we think it should have been.
