Is it really too much to ask that each subsequent version of a specific technology recognize every preceding version of itself? Is it really too much to ask? I don't think it is. Seems to me that it's simple common sense. And for the very first time my technological rant is not against PCs and the Evil Empire, but against my dearly beloved Macs. PCs probably have the same dumbass issue, but that's not my problem. My problem is a Mac running OS X that will not recognize a disk from a Mac Classic. It won't even recognize that there's a disk in the damned drive. ::grumble, grumble:: This shouldn't be so difficult. It should be a completely straight-forward function. Open the old, save as the new. ::grrrrrr!::
If I had a phone modem, I could make the Mac Classic talk to the world, and then email myself the files. But I don't even have the right kind of phone for a phone modem to plug into.
I tried the library, but the libraries are all getting facelifts and new equipment, and that means all new IBMs. No help at all. My next step is Kinkos, but I have little hope there. We'll see.
I just want my damned files!
I want a cookie.
