Happy Belated Birthday to Me
Apr. 12th, 2005 09:52 pmI'm rather behind in posting about my spiffy b-day weekend this past weekend. So here goes...
Friday night the lovely man-cub agreed to be put out of his own home so that I could have a chicks only party. Don't worry about him, though. He went to his favourite store and then to a movie he was still laughing about several hours later. The party consisted of lots of fabulous women, lots o' yummy food, delicious chocolate stout cake (even if I say so myself), nifty toys and goodies, and what I genuinely didn't expect but was pleased to get...prezzies! It was wonderful to see everyone who could make it, and I hope everyone took something fun home from the evening. ;)
Saturday was mostly mellow. I walked with
jaunthie and luthien-t to the wee lake where we met up with Aviva. Unfortunately SunKrux couldn't join us as she'd planned. Then on the way back, jaunthie and luthien-t and I decided we had to eat, so we met up with jaunthie's man and went for brunch. The man-cub, Nordic Boy, joined us after his bike ride. After that, I spent a pleasant day getting some things done around the house. Nordic Boy made a yummy dinner, too. I love a man who can cook! :D
Sunday I slept in as long as I wanted, and we watched some Travel Channel before even getting out of bed. Nordic Boy fixed me extra fabulous French toast for breakfast. (There was half and half left over after making the ganache for the cake. Gotta use it up, right? ;) ) Next we went to the Sci-Fi Museum, which I'm embarrased to admit I'd not yet been to. It's fantastic! It's small, but chocked full o' great stuff. It's the perfect size, really. You can do the whole place in under three hours, see everything, and not come out exhausted and numb. Perfect.
Then we had a quiet, relaxing afternoon before going in search of my birthday dinner. We strolled down to a great little place...that unfortunately is closed on Sundays. Ah well. We strolled home. It was nice to get in an evening stroll. I picked another great place that we'd been to once, and it was most excellent. Yummy food. Nice atmosphere. Super-tasty key lime tart. :D Since I was still in a Classic Sci-Fi mode, I narrowed our DVD-viewing choices down to either 2001 or Logan's Run. We opted for the latter since it was already 8:30--not the time to start 2001, particularly not on a Sunday night.
So all in all, I had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Yay!
