monkeybardMariners pre-game show. They just showed the footage of Edgar Martinez's double that scored Joey Cora and Ken Griffy, Jr., to send the Ms to the second round of playoffs for the first time.
It still makes me cry.
There's a reason we named a street after him. There's a reason he's going into the Ms Hall of Fame tomorrow. There's a reason why, in 2010 when he's eligible, they should retire his number with the Ms and induct him into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He defined the role of the Designated Hitter. Whether you like the position or not--and oh! I do!--his achievements deserve MLB-wide recognition. We should all be as good at what we do, and as good a person, as Edgar Martinez.
