Breathing room
May. 2nd, 2005 03:46 pmLast week was nuts. Insane busy. I'm not going to bore you with my entire crazy week, though. Just the past few days.
My bro had a 2-for-1 coupon to FareStart Cafe for lunch, so we went there on Friday. It was excellent! I'm not usual a polenta person, but the roasted veggies a la marinara over polenta was like some sort of culinary siren's song, and I went happily to its depths. So very yummy! After this midday delight, I had errands to run downtown. Fortunately, that's where lunch was, so it was pretty straightforward. Tickets at Ticket/Ticket for Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens at The Timberline. A wedding present from (The Evil) Macy's. And a bus ride home once more.
FiTanna and Aviva came over that evening for a bit of dinner, and then they, Nordic Boy, and I were off to the show. Fun, fun, fun!! If you're in the Seattle Area, go see this show. Pony up the $24 or hit Ticket/Ticket for day-of 1/2-price tickets (plus exorbitant service charge, but still less than full price), and go see it. It's pure disco fluff and it's fabulous! And I don't just say this because I know people involved. I say this because it's THAT MUCH FUN!
So the wedding. Saturday afternoon. The bride was lovely. The groom was nervous and darling. The soloist was excellent. The preacher was a sexist, heterosexist fuck who wasn't even a good public speaker. But the bride was gorgeous. The groom was too cute. The soloist was wonderful. And that's what I keep telling myself. I honestly think that if the bride hadn't had her mind on other things (like not locking her knees, or not tripping over her train) that she would have stopped the fuckwad preacher and informed him that it was time to move onto the vows. She's a ballsy red-headed stage manager. Really. It wouldn't have surprised me if she's shouted "And...scene!" and made him move on.
Then several of us theatre folks gathered at the lovely home of Sanafi and Technocrat for the "after party". You can't have a wedding and reception in a Baptist church and expect the theatre people to be satisfied, no matter how tasty the tortellini and skewers--and they were tasty. It was drinks and barbecue for us. Fun and mellow, and I learned about an upcoming stage combat weekend that I must register for.
Sunday was a fun day because it was Nordic Boy's and my eighth anniversary. We celebrated in traditional fashion with a trip to the zoo. For those who don't know, that's where we got married, so it's always fun to go there to commemorate the occasion. We made a wonderful dinner together and to be extra romantic, we actually ate at the table. ::gasp:: Almost unheard of! Nordic Boy made outstanding salmon, while I did up the veggie sides. I'm telling you, find someone who can cook. If you both cook, eating is that much more enjoyable.
Moving on to today--I had a lovely spa visit that included a manicure for my poor, battered cuticles, and an aromatherapy facial. ::happy sigh:: So relaxing and wonderful. I recommend both. I'm lucky enough to have a fabulous man-cub who won a gift certificate at a the Philharmonia Northwest auction last November, and he gave it to me for Solstice. I have a massage scheduled for this Saturday. I can't wait!
I'm one happy, lucky Monkey. :D
