One hardly needs a *special day* to be a pedant. I can do it year-round.

Not everyone is a special as you. In fact most people aren't. It is they who must be eased back into pedanticalness (I cannot believe that's the right form of the word, but so says dictionary.com.) slowly, as befits their tiny brains.
