monkeybard: (don'tthinkso)

Remember the ten WIP lines meme? Well I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I completely forgot about two XWP WIPs.  One because it was being written by four of us, and hasn't been touched in years.  The other because I'm a git.  So for completion of this meme, and in penance for forgetting these, I post two more WIP lines.

10) What they saw when they reached the stable stopped them in their tracks. There stood Celesta and Charon over the supine form of Joxer like sentries at a castle gate.

11) Xena stepped back and shook her head as she watched the two Amazon Queens. No, the image was still there. Two Gabrielles standing face to face, one in feathers and one in leathers. It made her head spin in more ways than one.

(With all credit where it's due, the second one is from a round-robin with FiTanna, and I'm 97% postitive that particular snippet is hers.)

I love to go thrifting, particularly when I have a goal in mind. I've thrifted a lot lately. I've thrifted two pairs of jeans that will each eventually be gussied up in some way (I'm thinking earth tones/casual for one pair and shmancy maybe Czek glass or pretty chain for the other.). I've been on the lookout for knee-high black boots (not lace-up ones like I already have), and I've been to four Value Villages looking for them. A pair at the nearest store was almost perfect, and when they were there the third time I went (having found nothing that would do at the other three stores), I knew they were destined to be mine. I also finally found a sweater to go with the fabulous orange wool skirt I got from J. Peterman. So yay, I have a complete outfit now, but that's not the point. I don't need those two pairs of jeans, nor do I really need the t-shirt I'm wearing as I type, or the skirt that I got. However, everything I got on Sunday except the t-shirt was half-off. That sort of makes up for the fact that neither the boots nor the sweater were half-off. Yes, I even look for bargains amongst the bargains; that's part of the joy of thrifting. :) Another part of the joy of thrifting is finding goodies for friends--like the cream dress I found for [livejournal.com profile] jaunthie that'll be Ren Fair perfect with just a bit of this and that. For another example, I've been slowly and randomly gathering goodies for my Monkeys. Sunday, I found two things for half price (that's $5 each in this case). Considering the fabulousness of the items, full price would have been a deal. Then, Monday, I found another item. One that was not just half price, but $.99. Oh yes. I'm good. But I really need to stop for a while. It's getting out of hand, IMO. Nordic Boy hasn't said a thing, but he wouldn't. He's a good fellow, and his favourite store isn't nearly as cheap as mine. ;) But I feel I must take a break from my thrifting madness. I've found what I was specifically seeking for the time being. I'll continue to look for Monkey prezzies if I happen to be in a thrift store, but that's not for anything specific. That's just because I love my Monkeys and I love thrifting. When I have something for everyone, I'll give them to them.

So no more thrifting for me for a while...unless someone else wants company?  ;->
