monkeybard: (Game on)

You don't even have to watch the vid.  I mean, who doesn't know that the woman is a complete crackpot, right?  Just go click the "No" button and be on your merry way.

----------

PBS has a short video on Sarah Palin on their website. Also included is a poll that asks: Is Sarah Palin qualified to be VP?

You don't have to give your name or email address in order to vote. It's very simple.

Here's the link:

http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html

----------

And here's a really good idea I got from [livejournal.com profile] belfrynotes  the other day.  Who he got it from, I do not know, but it is brilliant.  Brilliant!

----------

In addition to us all sending around more emails about how horrible Sarah Palin is, let's all make a donation to Planned Parenthood.
In her name.

And here's the good part: when you make a donation to PP in her
name, they'll send her a card telling her that the donation has
been made in her honor. Here's the link to the Planned
      Parenthood website:

You'll need to fill in the address to let PP know where to send
the "in Sarah Palin's honor" card. I suggest you use the address
for the McCain campaign headquarters, which is:

      McCain for President
      1235 S. Clark Street
      1st Floor
      Arlington , VA 22202

PS make sure you use that link above or choose the pulldown of
Donate--Honorary or Memorial Donations, not the regular "Donate
Online"

(Hopefully those links work correctly.)

That poll was scary - apparently 51% who have participated in that poll think she IS qualified! ::shudder::

I was thinking the same thing. Frightening.

It's still at 51% for her but 48% against. So here's hoping. The simple fact that she's against abortion, period scares me no end. While I don't condone it as a form of birth control, I would not want any woman who's been raped or a victim of incest to have to go to some back alley doc to get an abortion.

Wake up American women...do not go back in time!

Well that is a slight improvement; it was 47% against when I voted.

I agree with you on the abortion thing - I am pretty much pro-life but in extreme case (like what you mentioned) I'd most likely be choosing abortion. It shouldn't be used as a method of birth control and I think the very late term abortions (like in the 5th month) should just be wrong. But even though I am pro-life, does not mean I think abortion should be outlawed; I am very much pro-choice.

I read an article about in some magazine a while back that indicated that young women seem to be getting apathetic about this whole thing because of such things as the morning after pill and the abortion pill (things that weren't available at the time of Roe vs Wade) that they aren't trying to take steps to make sure that we don't loose our right to have abortions (like voting for candidates who are also pro-choice). But even with the morning after pill and the abortion pill, you still need to be able to find doctors and pharmicists that will prescribe them; some can and will refuse because they find them morally objectionable. I do not think that should be right either.

I'm done rambling.

*icon is no reflection on how I feel about you. I ♥ you

Oh don't EVEN get me started on this "moral objection" to prescribe meds of any kind to folks. You wanted to be a doc/pharmacist, then you suck it up and keep your moral objections to the drugs to your fucking self. That pisses me off on about 15 gazillion levels. They have NO right to decide for me if I can take the morning after/abortion/any damn med I might need or want to make my life better.

It will start with the morning after/abortion pill but next is anti-depressants and other such drugs. ::rolleyes::

There was a discussion on one of the off topic threads at GW about how we as humans won't let our animals suffer any kind of pain, but some of us have no problem letting our fellow humans or loved ones suffer pain. I rank this "moral objection" shit up there with that. Why should a doc/pharmacist have the right to prolong the emotional pain of a woman/girl who's been raped or a victim of incest and make them beg for meds to terminate a child they do not want? I had a friend in college who was a child of rape, her mother kept her and it was hell on my friend. I just think it's wrong that the religious right are worming their way into how this country is being run....and as a sorta religious person, it makes me scared. Soon they'll want to hunt down my friends who are not religious. GGGAAAHHHH!!

Oh I hear you. I can kind of understand doctors and pharmicists in Catholic run hospitals getting away with it (though I don't think that should be right either); but everyone else should not be able to get away with not prescribing those items. I think Washington is a state where women should be able to get them without problems, if needed (though I can't remember for sure). Not sure about CA though.

I don't care what religion runs the damn hospitals or pharmacies, keep your religion out of my state and my choice to take care of myself. It's wrong, wrong, wrong. Not sure about CA either.
