monkeybard: (Happy Halloween!)

So I popped onto this one BBS I used to visit pretty frequently.  Key wordS:  used to.  There were 864 posts over two pages' worth of topics since my last visit.  None of them piqued my interest enough to comment.  Only one was even worth clicking on to see what was new.  (Turned out to be nothing interesting, fyi.)  It's not that I don't sill enjoy the subject of the board.  It's just that I feel like the people there haven't changed in the slightest over the years, which is more than a little disturbing. Especially since so many of them are, at heart--or at least online, 13-year-old girls who are immature for their age. o_O  I'm glad for them all that the board is still so active, but really, how many times can they rehash the same old subjects (both on and off topic) before they all go completely mad?

Some people never change. They find communities that become their "comfort zone" - things don't evolve, no dissention at all is tolerated (not even civilized questions or debates or discussions - which are infrequent on the web, but do occasionally happen), and things stay the same. It's a touchstone. With the economy doing what it is currently, people are probably looking for any signs of normalcy they can get.

But...yeah. A lot of times, communities can get stagnant. (At least they don't have virtual mosquitos..!)

55 hours and counting down until I know about the latest condo...

Possibly. ;) Since I am soooo popular there nowadays. LOL I dared to question the "grand poobah". Not even a public apology for my behavior has changed how some folks there see me now. Their loss. ;)

13 is so wasted on 13-year-olds. Thirteen is when you're pimply and awkward and have communal showers and wedgies and maybe need to shave and grow too fast and if you're gay, well...

I want to go back and indulge my inner 13-year-old with some swooning and gushing. DAMMIT I WILL NOT BE DENIED A PROPER ADOLESCENT SILLINESS!
