I don't mind the work. I mind the panicked oh-shit-this-appeared-from-nowhere-and-it's-due-now-and-there's-no-one-but-YOU-to-do-it-so-cancel-your-life-and-fix-it. This is the down-side of being a "department" of one contract employee. This brings me great anger.

This is the reason why I stare at a little sign above my desk that reads "Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part". It doesn't change the situation, mind you, and I still have to deal with idiots. But the sign does make me smile.

Yeah. That's a good sign to have. :-)

It's extra frustrating because I can't even get mad at the person who dumped the thing in my lap. It's more than likely that he didn't have the notice any earlier.
