monkeybard: (smirk)

It's been a busy week and weekend.  I finally finished altering my costume from Little Monkeys on the Prairie.  It now fits better than it did in the first place, so yay me.  And my Ephiny costume got a bit of additional altering, too.  I'm quite satisfied.

Nordic Boy and I went up to Paradise on Friday, and we even stayed at Paradise Inn, which is about to close for two years for renovation and restoration.  It was beautiful!  Well, okay, it was cloudy (You can't call it "fog" at that elevation.), but it was still lots of fun.  We spent the afternoon hiking on the mountain, and then after a huge and yummy dinner I sat down to write...at last.  I got about 1300 words down.  Not great, but better than nothing.  I wanted more, but I knew going into it that I had unrealistic expectations.  The next day we headed back down the mountain, stopping at the Grove of the Patriarchs so I could "ooo" and "ahh" over the old growth trees there.  It's mind-blowingly beautiful.  I got some cool pictures there and over the whole weekend.

Today, I decided that I still needed a change of environment if I was going to get anything done on Log 3:4.  So I walked to one of the neighbourhood coffee shops--the one that happens to be inside an independent bookstore--ordered a latte and a muffin, and pluged in my laptop.  About two hours and 2000 words later, I decided to pack it in for the day.  Walking home I thought of another quick scene to add, so I did that--another 300 or so words.  ::satisfied sigh::  I'm feeling much more positive now.  I can see the thermobaric cloud at the end of this installment, and that means I'll finally be officially into the Expanse and the show's third season.  Of course, that means I need to start rewatching the show's third season, but needs must as the devil drives, as Faustus (and Rimmer) remind us.  At least I can fastforward through all the Trip/T'Pol bullshitgarbagecrap.  That'll make it go quicker.  And I have no intention of churning out as many logs as there were eps this season.  I'm one person with a life; I simply can't do it.  But I'll do everything I can.

Now it's time to either vacuum the house or rake up chestnuts.  ::looks around the house, then out the window::  In the immortal words of Aruthur Dent, "Looks like it's you and me again today, horse chestnut."  That tree is truly the only thing I dislike about autumn.  Of course, it drops crap all spring and summer, too, so it's not like it's anything new or different.  C'est la vie.  I'm off to battle the tree.

. . .

Well, it looks like the kitty needs some snuggling, so the tree'll have to wait.  Oh darn.  ;-)

Yeah YOU!!

Damn demanding kitty! Does she think she rule that roost? Congrats on the writing. I still think you should share that Malone 66 word story with the TLW board.
