Post-show report
Feb. 27th, 2006 10:33 amSo Picasso at the Lapin Agile closed yesterday. It was an appropriately surreal ending to the run. Our Freddy, who'd been sick the entire rehearsal and run, was finally properly diagnosed this past Friday. He has pneumonia. So his incompetent doctor finally prescribe the big drugs. Well, too little too late, as they say, because Sunday morning he was turning blue and aid cars came and took him to the hospital. (Still waiting for an update, btw, but I'm sticking to the belief that no news is good news.) Oh, and our Einstein, who had a cold last weekend, had full-blown who-knows-what this weekend. We hope he's doing better today, too. (Still waiting for that health update, too.) He was, in his own words, NyQuilled to within an inch of his life yesterday.
How did we close the show without one of the actors when there are no understudies, you ask? Our costumer, a consumate pro and an outstanding actor, stepped in and went on with book in hand. As I say, surreal. It went surprisingly well, considering everything. Needless to say, I'm exhausted just from the high tension of the whole situation, and I expect everyone else is, too. I've never done a show where someone had to come in like that, and I hope never to have to again.
Now I want to go home and just chill out, but unfortunately that's not an option right now. ::sigh:: I'm living for Thursday. On Thursday I just might be able to spend 24 hours in my house, uninterrupted, with the cat and my laptop. If you were planning to call me on Thursday, don't. ;-P
