Dead bored

Okay, so I failed to prepare properly to spend today at Nordic Boy's office.  When there's stuff to do, I'm fine, but this is one of those days where most of my time is spent waiting for material from someone else.  Trust me, there can be a great deal of waiting in a single work day.  Aside from the little actual work I've had to do today, I've spent time in my emails, on the two bbs I frequent, and on my own site fixing a couple of things.  I did a little catching up at the Fashion Plateau, too.  Needless to say that short of reading saved up ENT slash fic, I've now run out of fresh entertainment.

So I'll do a little blog catching up, shall I?

Last Sunday week I got together with Einstein, ZG, and [profile] jenboo to watch the BSG pilot movie.  Einstein is quite the gourmet.  He fixed fantastic Dover Sole with a cheesey bernaise sauce, twice-cooked potatoes, and super yummy beans for dinner, and provided more good wine than you could shake the proverbial stick at.  While we watched, we sipped port and nibbled cheeses grapes that I provided.  Then we took a mid-way break for delicious lemony cake that jenboo brought.  What was it called again?  My memory fails, overcome by tasteyness the words escape me.  Now we have to figure out when we're available to gather again to begin watching the series.  This will be challenging--partly because it requires me remembering to email dates once I get home and have access to my datebook.  Wish me luck.

I spent a lovely birthday with [profile] jenboo at the naked women's Korean spa.  We each got full body scrubs, and I'll tell you nothing beats it.  I love a good massage, but this was way better.  And I discovered that if you go on your birthday you get in for free.  So, whee!, I saved $30.  :-D

Nordic Boy and I went out for fantastic Thai food for dinner that evening.  Lechee martini.  Curried halibut with Thai eggplant.  (I'm not an eggplant fan, but Thai eggplants are small and entirely inoffensive as I discovered.)  Chicken with green papaya salad and sticky rice.  The most amazing pad thai ever.  It came in a banana leaf, and the server mixed it together at the table--the bean sprouts, peanuts, and however much spice we wanted.  OMG, it was so good it was even good leftover two days later.  I've never met a pad thai that was that good left over.

All in all, a fabulous day.

I'm also celebrating in slightly hobbitish fashion.  A specific set of friends have this spiffy thing, and I made another spiffy thing to go with it.  I'm not saying just what yet, because they haven't all been delivered and I don't want to spoil the surprise.  ;-)

I also have a little something for two other friends, but I haven't been quite organized enough to mail them off yet.  Soon...  Soon...

I've been cast in GreenStage's Henry VI trilogy, so I'll once again be spending my summer in the parks.  I'll be Joan la Pucelle in Part 1, then I spend Parts 2 & 3 as I-don't-yet-know-who.  I only hope that I don't have to do much fighting as whoever those characters may be.  I'll have had plenty of fighting as Joan, and would like to enjoy being dead for the rest of the production.  Fortunately, I'll soon be getting together with [profile] jenboo and [profile] devinam for a bit of fight training.  I have some "on-the-job" training, and some stage combat and fencing training from college, but I'll feel much more confident after some more direct and current instruction.  Plus fighting is just good fun!  ;->

We took my folks to see Teatro Zinzanni on Friday night.  It was their Christmas prezzy.  Nordic Boy's folks were supposed to come too, but his mom is sick and was definitely not up to the outing.  Ah well.  We'll just have to take them another time.  I have no problem seeing the show again.  Here.  Twist my arm.  ;-)  They're changing the cast over pretty soon, too, I think, so it should be a very different show next time.  Perhaps Mabel will be back again.  Le Chef was outstanding, but I'd love to see Mabel again.

Spent this past Saturday with the Monkeys working on our belts for the new costumes.  We accomplished a great deal in a short time, and I can't wait to see the rest of the cozzies tomorrow.  We perform in Hillsboro this coming Saturday.  Thank the gods we have one more rehearsal this week!  And thanks to Aviva who agreed to be the driver this year.  I drove the past two years and just don't want to this time.  And my car needs an oil change and new wiper blades before it goes that far again.  And I need to schedule a hair cut and a waxing appointment.  No time!  No time!  Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  ::pant, pant::  Okay, small panic attack has passed.

Sunday, Nordic Boy and I went to visit his folks.  Had a lovely time chatting with NorskMor, and then kicked back with GemTrader to watch the new King Kong.  Unfortunately we only got through about half the movie.  I didn't know it was over three hours long.  I suppose I should have guessed it.  It is Peter Jackson, after all.  We'll rent it and watch it from the beginning again another time.  Still, it was a good day, if a bit tiring.  It was nice to sit on the sofa and munch pizza and watch In & Out that evening.  Just us.  And the cat.  ...  Good times.

All right.  That's enough of my "week in review".  Someday I'll read up on my flists recent doings, but it won't be this moment.
