D'you ever feel...

...like you're suddenly no longer one of the fun kids?  I'm feeling that way right now.  I know part of it will be alleviated tomorrow when my daily schedule goes back to normal, but right now I'm blue.  :-(  I think part of the annoyance is that I know how to make it better, but that's not currently within my control (see previous note about schedule).  Another part is totally self-centered and self-pitying, so I refuse to allow that to get to me...any more than it already is.  I will now focus on specifically

Good Things
The Fuzzy Monkeys got together last night and began to learn a new routine to be performed at Saqra's Showcase this spring.  It already kicks ass, and we've only done about two minutes of the first piece.
My kitty cat, Morag, is not sick--just ornery.
My man-cub made dinner on sunday, and he brought home a Stargate SG-1 DVD, and he's making dinner tonight.  He rocks.  :-D
I bought a pair of size 8 jeans from The Gap this weekend. They're not even tight--and I haven't even hit my "goal weight" yet.
My novella that I started a decade and more ago, and hadn't looked at from November 2001 to January 2005 doesn't suck.  Not even remotely.  (To be entirely accurate, it was a short story when I started writing.  It just wouldn't be told within short-story limitations, so now it's become a novella.  It may even make it to novel length when I finally write the ending.  Who knows?)

Okay.  That's enough to keep me pleasant for the time being.  Now I'm off to donate blood, get a latte at Monkey Grind, and head in to the man-cub's office for a few hours of work.

And I know what it is like not to be one of the fun kids any longer, because I definitely am not even in the same universe as the fun kids these days. Attempting to write a 12000 word dissertation in just over a month does that to you.
