The problem with boredom...
Sep. 5th, 2006 04:10 pm...is that either it causes me to stop thinking all together or it causes me to think too much. But is it really too much, or is it simply that I'm so out of the habit of thinking that it seems like too much?
See what I mean?
There's a thread I only just noticed because it's in a forum I don't go into anymore. It's a thread specifically for fanfic writers and someone asked if people's writing styles reflect their personalities. So now I'm thinking, does my writing style reflect my personality? Which leads me to the question, just what the hell is my writing style? (I do know that my style is often influenced by whatever I'm reading, but since I'm not reading even the book that I am reading, the point is irrelevant.) I know my style is somewhat different depending on if I'm writing fanfic or original fic. One need only read a little of each to see that. Of course this is all tempered by the fact that I recently posted a lengthy fanfic installment that could potentially garner me some angry/upset feedback. It could also garner me some Huzzahs, as it would if I were a reader rather than writer of it. I'm a little hung up on feedback at the moment, I guess. I post new fic so rarely, and I have such a small audience (as far as I know), that their response means a lot to me. And I'm an instant gratification junkie. I know that and admit it freely. It takes time to read; it takes time to respond. I want to tesser to the point where people have read and responded so that I can see what they think. But then I'll have to think about how to respond. It's a vicious cycle.
I think I'm thinking myself into the headache I've been fighting all damned day. :(
