monkeybard: (thinking hard)

[Poll #1006059]I'm being wishy-washy to the point where Charlie Brown would be annoyed with me.  So I'm posting a poll (I hope. We'll find out if it works. ::crossing fingers:: ) to see what my friends think about the dilemma that is currently niggling at my wee mind.

over 7,000 words seems like alot of the the story to me. Next year they're letting larger stories in? Or do all the above things. One will have to work, right?

How about option f: Rework it to stand alone, independent of any holiday? I mean, I know that a holiday plays a part of your plot, but from what you described it isn't particularly integral to the whole story, so maybe you should think outside the box and not try to sell it as holiday or theme-related.

Then again, what do I know? It's not like I read it...

...er, that is, it's not as if I've read it. Not that I wouldn't, or passed up on a chance to do so. ;-)

No, it definitely needs the holidays.

Of course, that doesn't mean you have to market it as a holiday book, just like every movie about Christmas doesn't necessarily come out at Christmas time. (Remember While You Were Sleeping? It came out in February or March.)

My suggestion? Send it out as-is to the other pub you were considering, the one that doesn't have the themed set. Then, if they pass, send it to Phaze (after their themed submission period is over). Don't wait. It's ready.
